Softball Recap: Hamilton's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Hamilton dropped their record down to 10-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 13-10 to the Lakota West Firebirds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Firebirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in April.

As for Lakota West, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

For Lakota West's part, Liz Meyer and Mia Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Meyer went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Anderson went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Paige Kopp, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton will welcome Milford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Big Blue's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lakota West, they will square off against Colerain at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Firebirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
