The M.L. King Lions lost to the Miller Grove Wolverines back in December of 2022, but the M.L. King Lions didn't allow the Miller Grove Wolverines the same satisfaction on Saturday. M.L. King came out on top against Miller Grove by a score of 53-40. The win was all the more spectacular given M.L. King's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Miller Grove is ranked 150th).
It was another big night for Janaya Williams, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of M.L. King's points. Alika Daugherty was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 7 steals.
The win makes it two in a row for M.L. King and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Miller Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. M.L. King will take on Douglass at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Douglass will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Miller Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest DeKalb at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
