The Northeast Bearcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Tipton 69-41. While losing is never fun, Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Tipton is ranked 19th).
Tipton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Schlotzhauer out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Schlotzhauer continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Charlee Bailey was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five assists.
Northeast now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Tipton, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Helias at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Tipton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Windsor at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th.
