Football Game Preview: Jefferson Dragons vs. Calhoun Yellow Jackets

After both having extra time off, the Jefferson Dragons and the Calhoun Yellow Jackets will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Jefferson sitting on four straight victories and Calhoun on ten.

Jefferson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Friday. They came out on top against LaGrange by a score of 21-13.

Gavin Markey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 141 yards on only 13 passes. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jefferson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 214 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 214 rushing yards in nine consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, everything went Calhoun's way against Stephenson last Friday as Calhoun made off with a 35-13 win. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won seven contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Jefferson's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.5 points per game. As for Calhoun, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
