The Discovery Canyon Thunder managed to keep up with the Lutheran Lions until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Discovery Canyon had to suffer through a rough 70-39 loss at the hands of Lutheran. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Discovery Canyon has suffered since November 30, 2023.
Discovery Canyon's loss came despite strong showings from Addison Hulse and Kaela Rowe. Hulse scored 15 points, while Rowe scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rowe has scored all season.
Leading Lutheran to victory were Berkley Schneider and Jayda Vigil. Schneider dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds, while Vigil scored 24 points along with three steals and two blocks. Schneider hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Makenna Mudd was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Discovery Canyon are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9. As for Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will challenge Cheyenne Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cheyenne Mountain is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Lutheran, they will head out on the road to square off against Lewis-Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Lewis-Palmer is ranked 56th, while Lutheran is ranked 76th).
