This season hasn't been kind to the Chase Kats, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. The New Year welcomed they with a 63-19 whooping from Fairfield on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chase in their matchups with Fairfield: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the defeat, Chase saw an underclassman step up: Humberto Rincon scored eight points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rincon has scored all season.
Chase bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Fairfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chase will take on Ellinwood at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellinwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chase in Kansas (Ellinwood is ranked 83rd, while Chase is ranked 351st). As for Fairfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against LaCrosse at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully LaCrosse focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 back in December of 2023.
