Fullerton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Sunny Hills Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Fullerton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
Fullerton fought the good fight in their overtime match against Troy but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 67-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. While losing is never fun, Fullerton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 559th, while Troy is ranked 222nd).
The losing side was boosted by Saint Martinez, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Edwards, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Sunny Hills was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 57-53 to Sonora.
Nathan Sanchez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Ze Brien Watkins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Fullerton has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. Sunny Hills' record is now 14-10.
Wednesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Baylor Wilks and Kingsley Ashley. Wilks has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 13.8 points and 4 rebounds. For his part, Ashley has averaged 10.1 points and 7 rebounds.
Fullerton barely slipped by Sunny Hills in their previous meeting on January 9th, winning 62-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fullerton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
