Ansley/Litchfield has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Overton Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ansley/Litchfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Overton is ranked 50th).
Ansley/Litchfield suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Pleasanton at home and fell 54-27. Ansley/Litchfield found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 13 to 5 on offense.
Despite the loss, Ansley/Litchfield saw an underclassman step up: Caydence Feldman scored six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Overton entered their tilt with Brady with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Overton claimed a resounding 59-26 victory over Brady on the road. Overton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 23 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Overton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jolee Ryan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Ryan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Wood, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Ansley/Litchfield bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Overton, their victory bumped their record up to 14-1.
Ansley/Litchfield came up short against Overton in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 51-40. Can Ansley/Litchfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
