Berrien is 0-6 against Pelham since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The two teams will face off at 12:45 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Berrien will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Pelham is ranked 63rd).
Last Saturday, Berrien took a serious blow against Lowndes, falling 66-16. Berrien has struggled against Lowndes recently, as their match on Saturday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Pelham unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Turner County.
Despite their loss, Pelham saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sariyah Chester, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Chester's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Kieria Frazier, who scored 13 points.
Berrien now has a losing record at 5-6. Pelham's record is now 3-1.
Berrien was taken down by Pelham 57-24 when the teams last played on December 1st. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Chester, who went 10 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 44 points and 2 assists. Now that Berrien knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
