The Rittman Indians will head out to face off against the Maplewood Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Rittman has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rittman's last matchup with Waynedale could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Indians came up short against the Golden Bears, falling 14-6. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Indians, who have now lost three close ones in a row against the Golden Bears.
Lillian Halliwell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Carly Frame made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Meredith Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Maplewood waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Clippers get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Addison Marker's shutout, as she gave up just eight hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Ava Calvert was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Claire Urchek was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Maplewood's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Rittman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 16 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.
