The Bishop Montgomery Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Leuzinger Olympians at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bishop Montgomery's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Bishop Conaty-Loretto as they made off with a 19-0 victory. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Macey Kim was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Molly Forbess was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Emily Laralin, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3.
Bishop Montgomery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Leuzinger, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Lennox Academy on Wednesday.
Like Bishop Montgomery, Leuzinger also got a great game from a two-way player: Victoria Gonzalez. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Gonzalez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Leuzinger got a massive performance out of Tyler Lewis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Taryn Hill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
Bishop Montgomery is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Leuzinger, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 11-4.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bishop Montgomery has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Leuzinger struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bishop Montgomery took their win against Leuzinger in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Olympians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
