On Thursday, things could have been worse for East Lake, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-31 loss to Springstead. While losing is never fun, East Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Springstead is ranked 101st).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springstead to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addy Osborne, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. Samantha Suarez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and two steals.
East Lake has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Springstead, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.
East Lake will head out on the road to square off against Fivay at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Springstead, they will be playing at home against Hernando at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
