Basketball Recap: North Montgomery's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

North Newton came into Thursday's game looking for another win against North Montgomery, but Kelby Harwood wouldn't allow it. Everything went the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers' way against the North Newton Spartans on Thursday as the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers made off with a 66-41 win thanks in part to Harwood, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of North Montgomery's points.

Another player making a difference was Cameron Enlow, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024.

North Newton's loss came despite strong showings from Joe Stalewski and Jackson Alexander. Stalewski went 6 of 7 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds, while Alexander posted 12 points and five rebounds.

With the victory, North Montgomery broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6. As for North Newton, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

North Montgomery will take on Western Boone in a tournament on January 10th. North Montgomery is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. As for North Newton, they will welcome West Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
