The Mesa Jackrabbits lost to the Mountain View Toros back in January of 2023, but the Mesa Jackrabbits didn't allow the Mountain View Toros the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Mesa took down Mountain View 57-43. Given Mesa's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Mountain View is ranked 102nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mesa to victory, but perhaps none more so than John Petersen, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Petersen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jarren Galarza, who scored 14 points.
Mesa has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Mountain View, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa will take on Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westwood is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Mountain View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dobson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Dobson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday.
