Liberty North extended the longest winning streak in Suburban - Blue this week by beating Lafayette, 21-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Liberty North made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,109 from 3,071. The improvement came about via a 21-13 victory over the Fighting Irish last week.
Platte County's dynamic duo of James Valentine and Aliek Reed proved tough for Benton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Valentine threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns and Reed had 98 yards receiving. Scottie Wilson helped Platte County's passing attack out by catching five balls for 73 yards.
Antwynn Beavers was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 69 yards on 25 carries as Ken Clemens' team beat the Cardinals. Teammate Nick Hess added to the ground attack by rushing for 60 yards.
Platte County's Valentine and Wilson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Valentine has thrown for 2003 yards this season, while Wilson has 45 catches for 720 yards. The Eagles' Beavers leads the league in rushing yards with 1634.
A big matchup in Suburban - Blue this week will be when Bill Utz's team takes on Liberty North. At the moment, the Pirates are in first, while the Eagles are in fifth.
Platte County led the league in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on Benton. Valentine in the win.
