Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton will head out on the road to challenge the Steeleville Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-20, which was the final score in Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton's tilt against the Red Devils on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though Steeleville has not done well against the Pirates recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Steeleville came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates and snuck past 40-37. Winning may never get old, but Steeleville sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Steeleville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rylan Reiss, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Reiss is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Cole, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton's loss dropped their record down to 5-22. As for Steeleville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton came up short against the Warriors in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 47-43. Thankfully for Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton, Ashlyn Roberts (who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
