The Ridgecroft Rams put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 50-40 victory over Albemarle School. Given Ridgecroft's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Albemarle School is ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ridgecroft's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenzie Slaughter, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Chamblee, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Ridgecroft pushed their record up to 14-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Albemarle School, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Ridgecroft won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northeast Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Northeast Academy is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Albemarle School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Currituck County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
