The Dominion Academy Sabers will head out on the road to face off against the Calvary Christian Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Dominion Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Dominion Academy ended up a good deal behind Varsity Opponent and lost 59-43. Dominion Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Dominion Academy got a solid performance out of Elijah Heerdt, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Heerdt's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Luke Campbell was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian earned a 47-40 victory over Milford Christian on Saturday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Calvary Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while Milford Christian is ranked 241st).
Wyatt Schlatter was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 steals. Those 13 steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Philip Davie, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Dominion Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Calvary Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Dominion Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 57 points per game. It's a different story for Calvary Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 51.7 points per game. The only thing between Dominion Academy and another offensive beatdown is Calvary Christian.
