Meanwhile, Richland County owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Fairfield. The eight-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Kaiya Seessengood made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Taylor Bloomer was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Addison McLaughlin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.
Richland County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Edwards County pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Richland County, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Edwards County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Richland County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
