Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Branford's 15th in Last 18 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Branford had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They never let the Union County Fightin' Tigers get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Buccaneers have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Laila Arnold, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Union County off the board. Arnold has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cloey Criggall, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Hunter Revis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Branford is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Union County, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8.

Coming up, Branford will challenge Fort White at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Buccaneers surely won't give up without a fight. Union County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
