Elizabeth has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Colonia Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Elizabeth beat Union Catholic 58-47. Given Elizabeth's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Union Catholic is ranked 73rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
London Carson was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Mcrae, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Colonia scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against St. Thomas Aquinas by a score of 66-59. Winning may never get old, but Colonia sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Elizabeth's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Colonia, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Elizabeth came up short against Colonia when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 55-51. Can Elizabeth avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
