The NC GBB Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Freedom Christian Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Freedom Christian Academy to victory were Haidyn Bell and Karsten Swinney. Bell dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds, while Swinney scored 27 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. The contest was Swinney's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Roupen Kifourkian, who scored 9 points.
NC GBB Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 0-3. As for Freedom Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
NC GBB Academy will head out on the road to face off against Wayne Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against O'Neal at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. O'Neal is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
