Columbine extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They lost 8-2 to the Arvada West Wildcats. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 12-4 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Columbine got a good showing from Cooper Smith, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Smith gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Columbine saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Salvador Dominguez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Dominguez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
As for Arvada West, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
On Arvada West's side, Cooper Vais spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tate Deal, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kellen Conley, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
While Columbine had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
