NCSSM: Morganton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 63-56 victory over Avery County. The win was some much needed relief for NCSSM: Morganton as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
NCSSM: Morganton had a senior duo take command as Vedant Chanshetty scored 18 points and Jayden Spruill scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Spruill scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lawson Taylor, who scored ten points.
The victory got NCSSM: Morganton back to even at 4-4. As for Avery County, they bumped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Morganton will stay at home for another game and welcome Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Avery County will take on Mountain Heritage at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Heritage has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
