River Rouge is 3-0 against Riverview since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The River Rouge Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Riverview Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with River Rouge sitting on five straight victories and Riverview on eight.
River Rouge can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They claimed a resounding 47-14 victory over Anderson on the road. Given River Rouge's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Anderson is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
River Rouge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamori Biggs, who rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Biggs was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards. Nicholas Marsh also helped out with an impressive 142 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Riverview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 27-25 victory over Trenton on Friday. 27 seems to be a good number for Riverview as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
River Rouge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Riverview, their victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1.
River Rouge strolled past Riverview in their previous matchup back in November of 2020 by a score of 38-20. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Riverview's Jimari Moultrie, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
