The Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oswego Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Cedar Vale/Dexter pushed their score all the way to 42 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 72-42 loss at the hands of Sedan. Cedar Vale/Dexter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-26.
Cedar Vale/Dexter's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cooper Criss, who threw for 278 yards and four touchdowns, and Jaylon Harris who picked up 105 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Oswego unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 52-15 defeat at the hands of West Elk. Oswego was down 44-12 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Josh Hutchinson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Hutchinson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Cedar Vale/Dexter and nudges their season record down to 2-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 West Elk (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.3% over those games). As for Oswego, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Cedar Vale/Dexter took a serious blow against Oswego when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 46-0. Thankfully for Cedar Vale/Dexter, Jake Hutchinson (who rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
