First Baptist Christian waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chrisman Cardinals, sneaking past 67-65. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Cardinals are ranked 691st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loss or not, Chrisman got some senior leadership from Statler Mitchell and Gage Tingley. Mitchell dropped a double-double with 22 points and 18 boards, while Tingley shot 60% from the field en route to 18 points. That was a full 33.8% of the Cardinals' points, marking the fourth time in a row Mitchell has posted more than a third of the team's points. Dylan Lucas was another key player, putting up 11 points.

First Baptist Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Chrisman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

First Baptist Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-25 defeat against Westville on the 15th. As for Chrisman, they have also already played their next contest, a 69-46 victory against Martinsville on the 16th.
