With a playoff win on the line, Purvis rose to the challenge on Thursday. They never let the McComb Tigers get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

Drew Swan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, JoJo Parker and Jacob Parker did most of the damage at the plate: JoJo got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Jacob got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI JoJo has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Cannon Turner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Purvis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .909. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Purvis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for McComb, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Purvis beat the Tigers by a score of 15-0 later that day.
