The Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers will head out on the road to face off against the Franklin County Tech Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The third road contest was the charm for Putnam Vo-Tech, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took their contest on the road on Monday with ease, bagging a 51-20 win over Athol. The victory was just what Putnam Vo-Tech needed coming off of a 64-38 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Franklin County Tech waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They were the clear victor by a 52-30 margin over Ware. Franklin County Tech has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Hannah Gilbert, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lea Chapman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Putnam Vo-Tech's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Franklin County Tech, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Putnam Vo-Tech might still be hurting after the 64-38 defeat they got from the Eagles when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Chapman, who scored 24 points along with five steals and five blocks.
