The St. Paul's Crusaders took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 55-43 victory over Chapelgate Christian Academy. This was payback for St. Paul's, who suffered a 63-57 loss the last time these two teams met.
Chapelgate Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Julian Sabbat, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Justin Bishop who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds. Bishop scored a full 41.9% of Chapelgate Christian Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
St. Paul's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Paul's will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Concordia Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Carroll Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Carroll Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
