The Geneva Classical Academy Knights will be playing at home against the Oasis Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Geneva Classical Academy faced Foundation Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Geneva Classical Academy came out on top against Foundation Christian Academy by a score of 36-28. The win was some much needed relief for Geneva Classical Academy as it spelled an end to theirfour-game losing streak.
Geneva Classical Academy found their leader in underclassman Bennett Bayhan, who rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 142 yards and a touchdown. Bayhan was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Poe Stirk made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Geneva Classical Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Nick Schoenig and Shelton Grier who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Oasis Christian blew past St. John Lutheran, posting a 66-30 win on the road.
CJ Goldwire continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 288 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Christian Branning, who rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Geneva Classical Academy to 2-5 and Oasis Christian to 4-4.
