Gray-New Gloucester extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 3-12. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the York Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 8-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
Gray-New Gloucester saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Rioux, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Mason Amergian was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for York, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
On York's side, Robbie Hanscom was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hanscom has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Orrin Culp Dechant was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dom Grover, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
While Gray-New Gloucester had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
