Layla Amerling made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Chiara Browne, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverside University/Meir). They put the hurt on Milwaukee Bradley Tech with a sharp 29-5 victory on Tuesday. Considering Riverside University/Meir has won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Chaeli Gutzmann and Bella Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Gutzmann went 4-for-5 with six RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases, while Martinez went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four hits gave Gutzmann a new career-high. Izzy Alvarado was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Riverside University/Meir kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Riverside University/Meir's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Waukesha South, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Waukesha South hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Riverside University/Meir struggles in that department as they've averaged .374.
