Southern Wayne's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevaeh Hines-Bass, who posted 12 points and three steals. Hines-Bass has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Wake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaidyn Holloman, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points. Shanel Harrison was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
Southern Wayne has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for East Wake, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season.
Looking ahead, Southern Wayne will challenge Fike at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Wake, they have already played their next contest, a 38-29 win against South Johnston on the 11th.
