The South Elgin Storm fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They managed a 55-49 win over Metea Valley on Saturday. That's two games straight that South Elgin has won by exactly six points.
Despite the loss, Metea Valley still got an impressive performance from Lucy Burk, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Burk scored a full 32.7% of Metea Valley's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Reese Valha, who scored ten points along with five assists.
South Elgin's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15. As for Metea Valley, their loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-11.
South Elgin will take on Elgin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elgin has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Metea Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Glenbard North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Glenbard North is ranked 448th, while Metea Valley is ranked 447th).
