The Lewiston Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Mt. Blue Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Lewiston made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Oxford Hills, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-2 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered against the Vikings since June 8, 2019.

Spencer Chartier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jeffrey Randall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Mt. Blue waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the River Hawks 8-2.
Dane Cousineau was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Cousineau was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nolan Leso was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jax Vienneau also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Mt. Blue pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lewiston, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Lewiston suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Mt. Blue in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
