Riley Lyons was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Bianco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Lyons wasn't the only one making solid contact: Oxbridge Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy made easy work of Somerset Academy on Monday and carried off a 10-0 win.
Sienna Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Nightingale, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Sophia Jimenez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Oxbridge Academy's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Archbishop McCarthy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Oxbridge Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. However, it's not like Archbishop McCarthy struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oxbridge Academy couldn't quite get it done against Archbishop McCarthy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Will the ThunderWolves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
