Wolfe City won the last time they faced Saltillo and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wolves blew past the Lions 10-4. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Hylee Crowell made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyric Sandlin, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Guiette, who scored two runs and stole three bases.
The win (which was Wolfe City's third in a row) raised their record to 18-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Saltillo, they moved to 5-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Wolfe City will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair will be back at it again later today.
