The Clear Creek Golddiggers will head out on the road to challenge the Vail Christian Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses for Clear Creek and six for Vail Christian.
Last Saturday, Clear Creek was beaten by Gilpin County 54-19. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clear Creek in their matchups with Gilpin County: they've now lost five in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elizabeth Rooney, who scored eight points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aerah Fulton, who scored no points along with 16 rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Vail Christian had to suffer through a rough 70-11 loss at the hands of West Grand. Vail Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-8.
Clear Creek's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.4 points per game. As for Vail Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Clear Creek took a serious blow against Vail Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 48-6. Can Clear Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
