The Hoggard Vikings can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They put the hurt on New Hanover with a sharp 60-39 win. Winning may never get old, but Hoggard sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Sarah Elgart was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tristan Shivers, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and four steals.
New Hanover's loss came despite strong showings from Brianna Stanley and Tamorie Wilson. Stanley scored 18 points, while Wilson scored seven points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tirema Vereen, who scored ten points.
Hoggard pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.67 points. As for New Hanover, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.
Hoggard will head out on the road to face off against South Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Brunswick is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for New Hanover, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Brunswick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while New Hanover is ranked 53rd).
