The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Desert Hills Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Crimson Cliffs' win against Hurricane wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 8-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Jordyn Cluff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Paige Tuckfield, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyah Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Dixie typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Desert Hills proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Flyers 9-1. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Flyers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Sam Spencer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Lily Ringel and Riley Greene did most of the damage at the plate: Ringel went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Greene got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Ringel has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jayla Ybright, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Crimson Cliffs' record is now 9-5. As for Desert Hills, their record now sits at 13-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Crimson Cliffs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Desert Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Crimson Cliffs couldn't quite finish off Desert Hills in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
