The Chatfield Chargers were the 64-53 winner over the Lakewood Tigers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Chatfield was just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 68-67 to Lakewood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (56), Chatfield still had to take the loss.
Chatfield's loss came despite strong showings from Tony Rondinelli and Liam Mcguire. Rondinelli scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Mcguire scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcguire has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tanner Teff, who scored 12 points.
Chatfield's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Lakewood, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatfield will take on Columbine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbine is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to square off against Arvada West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
