After three games on the road, Florence is heading back home. They will take on the Ellicott Thunderhawks at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Florence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
Even though Florence has not done well against Colorado Springs Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Florence took down Colorado Springs Christian 59-43. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 7 on the offensive boards, as Florence did.
It was another big night for Gage Goodall, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunnar Phillips, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Ellicott, who are still winless after their 14th matchup. They took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Junta on Thursday.
Florence's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9. As for Ellicott, they dropped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Florence was taken down by Ellicott 78-36 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Florence was down 41-12.
