On Thursday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Monroe Central made off with a 39-38 victory over Morristown.
Despite the loss, Morristown still got an impressive performance from Colin Kieninger, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Kieninger set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Another player making a difference was Dalton Mcmichael, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Morristown were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Monroe Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Morristown, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe Central will finish 2023 at home by hosting Sheridan at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Sheridan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. Morristown will finish 2023 at home by hosting Herron at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
