The Simpson Academy Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Leake Academy and snuck past 47-45. This was a revenge contest for Simpson Academy, as the team was forced to settle for a 61-57 loss when these two played last Tuesday.
Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katye Jones, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Olivia Rudolph, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Simpson Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-11. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Leake Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 26-5.
Simpson Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Leake Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
