Meanwhile, Westlake came up short against Holy Name on Tuesday and fell 80-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (63), Westlake still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Westlake had strong showings from Ryan Turk, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Derek Occhipinti, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Turk is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Evan Hargett, who scored 12 points.
Elyria Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Westlake, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Elyria Catholic strolled past Westlake in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 70-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elyria Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
