The Kenston Forest Kavaliers are taking a road trip to face off against the Fuqua Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kenston Forest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Kenston Forest made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Amelia Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Kenston Forest never let Amelia Academy get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Kavaliers have posted against the Patriots since April 25, 2022.
Graham Sledd made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Tine Sledd and Connor Parker did most of the damage at the plate: Tine scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Parker went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most hits Parker has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ransom Clarke, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Fuqua and Southampton Academy, and Southampton Academy kept the tradition alive. Fuqua came up short against Southampton Academy on Thursday, falling 20-2. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Fuqua saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Morgan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Kenston Forest pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Fuqua, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Fuqua's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kenston Forest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for Fuqua, though, as they've only averaged .196. Will they be able to contain Kenston Forest's hitters?
Everything went Kenston Forest's way against Fuqua in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Kenston Forest made off with a 14-3 win. Will Kenston Forest repeat their success, or does Fuqua has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
