Basketball Recap: The Webb Schools' Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

If The Webb Schools was feeling good fresh off their 80-51 takedown of Southlands Christian last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Webb Schools Gauls took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tarbut V' Torah Lions on Tuesday. The Gauls haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the defeat, The Webb Schools saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jimmie Brown III almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 boards. Brown III is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Ethan Hao was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Even though they lost, The Webb Schools smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Jacob Coblentz-Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tarbut V' Torah, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Graydon Carpet, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

The Webb Schools' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7. As for Tarbut V' Torah, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Webb Schools will square off against Capistrano Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Capistrano Valley Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 contests. As for Tarbut V' Torah, they will take on Southlands Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tarbut V' Torah is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.4 points per game this season.
