Manchester Academy came tearing into Monday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Humphreys Academy Rebels. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.
Jon Parker Dees and Hayden Austin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dees pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Austin pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Dees posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At bat, Dees scored a run and stole Two bases., while Austin scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Dees is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, Wrigley Richardson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Manchester Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manchester Academy will welcome Park Place Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Humphreys Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Washington at 4:00 p.m. on March 18th.
