The Trinity Prep Saints will square off against the Lyman Greyhounds at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Trinity Prep is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight games dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 18-8 to Bishop Moore.
Naomi Tanielian and Mercer Wilson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tanielian went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Wilson went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Olivia Agnew was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Lyman fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Oviedo on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 7-5. The Greyhounds have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Emma Chauncey spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Kira Gold was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Darwent, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Lyman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Trinity Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Trinity Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Lyman when the teams last played back in March of 2025, winning 4-1. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
